The Sun: Improve Public Transport System with B40 in Mind

This article seeks to improve our public transport system to become more beneficial for the B40 group. It is noted that currently the system seems to be more accessible for the M40 and T20 groups, with the B40 group being mostly deprived of direct public transport to their residential areas.

Ian notes that the B40 group is burdened by the cost of purchasing vehicles to counter public transport shortcomings. Their finances will be affected due to having to purchase vehicles out of necessity, and in opting for the cheaper models they will invariably end up paying more for vehicle maintenance, which then eats into their finances.

Though Ian advises against getting cars due to depreciation, petrol and maintenance costs, he also points out that while public transport saves money it may not always be the most feasible option upon factoring in the time it takes and the distance to walk to and from home for it. The B40 group needs to balance cost and their own well-being when considering between purchasing a car or using public transport, including how tired they will be and how much quality time with their loved ones will be sacrificed if they choose to take public transport that is far from home.
